Ryan Giggs could be Manchester United boss now had he retired from playing earlier, according to Sir Alex Ferguson, writes David McDonnell in the Daily Mirror.
Former
United boss Ferguson said he would have made Giggs his assistant
manager had he not carried on playing until he was 40 years of age.
Ferguson, speaking in a BBC documentary, said Giggs could have worked under him for a few years and taken over from him when he decided to step down.
"If Ryan Giggs
had retired say six or seven years ago, say he'd retired at 35, it's
quite likely I'd have made him my assistant," said Ferguson.
"And
quite likely he could have moved right into the job, with the
experience of being an assistant manager to me, as he's doing helping
Louis van Gaal at the moment."
